The Grill Room & Bar features a rustic, open space with warm, rich colors and tall ceilings. Our “urban steakhouse” also features an easy view of the bustling kitchen and wood-fired grill. With the same comfortable ambiance as its sister restaurants The Corner Room, The Front Room, The Mountain Room, and The Last Run Room, The Grill Room features classic steakhouse entrees and a perfectly paired cocktail & wine list fit to compliment any dish on the menu.
Located in the historic Old Port in Portland, Maine, our famous beef tartare, salads, steaks, and seafood will tantalize your taste-buds. Chef Harding uses local Pineland Farms meats and local produce whenever available.

I can’t say enough great things about The Grill Room. From the moment we walked in, everything was exceptional. The food was absolutely delicious—every dish was perfectly prepared and full of flavor. What truly made the evening unforgettable, though, was our server, Ben. He was attentive, friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely made us feel welcome throughout the entire meal. His outstanding service elevated an already incredible dining experience. If you’re looking for amazing food paired with top-notch hospitality, The Grill Room is a must-visit. We will definitely be back! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Food was amazing our table had the famous muscles they are definitely were what everybody claims them to be. Had the 64 oz tomahawk steak for the table could not have been cooked better. Highly recommend the tomahawk for a party of four or more ! Our server Colby was top-notch. He was very personable, answered any questions and was relaxed and knew how to laugh/joke with the whole table. We enjoyed all his recommendation! Honestly best service we’ve had in a long time! Whole experience made my nephews birthday that much more special. Thanks for a wonderful atmosphere! We’ll be back soon. 🙂

The food and the drinks were fantastic. The wait staff was spot on...the atmosphere was great. You can either come in dressed down or dressed up. I'm definitely going back with a new group to introduce them.

We stopped in Sunday afternoon of Mothers for cocktails to wrap our already fabulous day in Portland. We stayed at the bar and started with Prosecco. The best Irish man in town, Carl was behind the bar and recommended the chocolate cake with whipped cream. It was amazing!! The best chocolate cake I have had in a long time! With freshly whipped cream. Carl made our day in Portland even better and we’d had a wonderful day all over town. We stayed on for more drinks! Great way to wrap up an already great day!!My husband and I realized as we walked in that it was this spot where he’d proposed 38 years ago!! February 1988 and married in Kennebunkport September 1988. Thanks Grill Room for going strong and remaining delicious!!

*Chefs kiss* from service to food to atmosphere. Our server, Jaden, was the best and super friendly. Scallops were delicious and the shareable tomahawk (big enough for three people) were cooked to perfection. If I am ever in the area again I will for sure come back to this restaurant.

From the moment you walk in, to the moment you walk out.. the service is incomparable! The food is to die for! This is our favorite restaurant by far. We travel often and always try different restaurants. The bartender, our waitress Yoanna was incredible. So, personable and knowledgeable. They even brought us to see the 84oz steak that we ordered which was cooked to absolute perfection!!! (As always)

Went here for a company function with six other people. The service was fantastic and the food was amazing. I had the ribeye and it was cooked to perfection. I can only speak as a meat lover, but it was a definitely a place I wanna come back to again.

The Grill Room is perhaps Portland, Maine's greatest in town restaurant! They have every side and sauce imaginable and a complete list of entrees, wines, beers, liquors, and desserts. You can order an entree or a la cart! You have so many options and the wait staff is wonderful! The Head Chef Elaina chatted with us at the bar and visited our table too! The pretzel and Carmel cheese cake was fire! And the duck and filet surf and turf was terrific! And the lobster risotto to go was delicious! We had great table neighbors, a view of the kitchen, friendly wait staff, and the ambiance is cozy!

We had a great time!! Julio was a wonderful server and the bar tender was phenomenal!! The espresso martini made by “the Irishman” was the best I’ve ever had. Wonderful dinner!

We had an INCREDIBLE dinner at The Grill Room! The scallop starter was phenomenal. We both ordered the prime rib with horseradish mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus. Hands down the best steak I've ever had. The drinks were great too - and the only picture I remembered to take! A great option for a high end date night.

After previously visiting The Grill Room, I went to express my happiness on the occasion and stumbled upon a previous rating on the same day. I’m ashamed of guests that feel the need to not only have such high, and literally inexperienced expectations that they feel the need to tarnish an employee’s and an amazing establishment’s reputation just to feel the need to complain. That night, sitting at the bar, I experienced nothing but professionalism. And further more, bring your readers and stop trying to nickel and dime such a prestigious restaurant.

I don’t write reviews often. But I want to give a shout out to the Rooms — high-quality food; great atmospheres; and attentive, knowledgeable and friendly staffs. That proved true again last week when we visited the Grill Room, sat at the bar, snd welcomed warmly. We couldn’t have asked for more responsive and friendly bartenders and the food (steak tips, other apps, and drinks) were awesome. Couldn’t ask for a better experience. Highly recommend.

Absolutely amazing experience at The Grill Room & Bar in Portland, Maine. The food was outstanding from start to finish. I ordered the Oysters Rockefeller, Caesar salad, and the special surf & turf, and everything was fantastic and delicious 🥩Our waiter Jaden was awesome as hell, knowledgeable, attentive, and clearly knew what he was doing. The hostess Mia was extremely kind and sweet and made us feel welcome right away.Highly recommend this place if you’re in Portland. I’ll definitely be back 😋

The Grill Room & Bar is one of the best high end restaurants in Portland. They offer a great menu with lots of quality red meat dishes. The mussels and fried shrimp appetizers are packed full of flavor and great to start the night with. The pork chop is amazing and one of the best dishes they serve. Julio is such an amazing waiter and gave us an incredible experience with his humor and great personality (pictured is the photo he took of himself before he took a picture for us). I highly recommend this spot for a small group dinner or for a date night as I’ve done before.

We went to visit Maine from Florida. We found this restaurant on google, read the reviews and we went to try it. The food was amazing, I had the ribeye which it was big enough for two of us. The atmosphere was pleasant
